Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe was awarded $380,000 to purchase local foods using a competitive procurement process for producers within 300-miles of the Reservation under the new Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) with the United States Department of Agriculture – Agriculture Marketing Services. Food will be distributed to tribal members identified as food insecure and through a school backpack program.
