In 2023, Leech Lake was awarded US HUD Distressed Communities Technical Assistance Grant (DCTA) to develop a data sovereignty structure. The tribe will be working with BCT Partners over the next 18-24 months to create a system that will accurately collect important social, economic, and demographic data while also maintaining the rights to control who has access to the information.
